Molecular junctions in the Coulomb blockade regime: Rectification and nesting
Quantum transport through single molecules is very sensitive to the strength of the molecule-electrode contact. Here, we investigate the behavior of a model molecular junction weakly coupled to external electrodes in the case where charging effects do play an important role Coulomb blockade regime . As a minimal model, we consider a molecular junction with two spatially separated donor and acce...
متن کاملCoulomb blockade in the fractional quantum Hall effect regime
We use chiral Luttinger liquid theory to study transport through a quantum dot in the fractional quantum Hall effect regime and find rich non-Fermi-liquid tunneling characteristics. In particular, we predict a remarkable Coulomb-blockade-type energy gap that is quantized in units of the noninteracting level spacing, powerlaw tunneling exponents for voltages beyond threshold, and a line shape as...
متن کاملThe Coulomb blockade in multi - gated - small - junction systems
An analytic solution to the elecuostatic problem of a multi-gated-small-junction system in the semiclassical regime is presented. As an example, the formula derived is used to analyse the stable domain for the Coulomb blockade at zero DC voltage and zera tempemu% for systems with am-galed small junctions, which models various important devices such as the single-electron pump and double dots.
متن کاملExplanation of the absence of bimodal peak spacing distribution in the Coulomb blockade regime
Using exact diagonalization numerical methods, as well as analytical arguments, we show that for the typical electron densities in chaotic and disordered dots the peak spacing distribution is not bimodal, but rather Gaussian. This is in agreement with the experimental observations. We attribute this behavior to the tendency of an even number of electrons to gain on-site interaction energy by re...
متن کاملRobustness of Topological Order in Semiconductor-Superconductor Nanowires in the Coulomb Blockade Regime
Semiconductor-superconductor hybrid systems are promising candidates for the realization Majorana fermions and topological order, i.e. topologically protected degeneracies, in solid state devices. We show that the topological order is mirrored in the excitation spectra and can be observed in nonlinear Coulomb blockade transport through a ring-shaped nanowire. Especially, the excitation spectrum...
